Stockholm
Svenska
Welcome to the Swedish page. I started to learn swedish as a challenge to prove people that it is impossible to be fluent in only 3 months. I started my challenge the 2025/08/27. Let's see how much I'm able to understand after only 1, 2 and finally 3 months of daily studies!
Östersund
Why swedish?
It was the first language I wanted to learn this year (2025), however, I decided at the last minute to study spanish because it was easier for me. At the moment, I'm in my 5th month of study, I listen to spanish content every day, however I don't study grammar each day because I did too much in a short time and I almost gave up.
"My" method

As I learned a lot of languages, I found that some advice was more efficient than others. I decided to challenge myself to make a Gloubi-boulga of all good advices for helping Korean learners. It was first design to Korean only but I wanted to test it before proposing it to others learners (-because, you know, if it's not working then... well... that's bad!-).
The test was made with Spanish. The method is divided by week. Each week focus on one accomplishment to see if it's really good or not.
I changed some days and also added more topics to make it more complete.

Week 1

3 months challenge : start !!

Day 1
Learned alphabet, pronunciation and presentation with this playlist : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-kA3rKkw2XUGAI7QgE6uODbq6RU4bGKE. From videos 1 to 12 and the 14. (Study time : 4h59min)
Listened to easy and native content. (SVT Play series and Comprehensive Input) Watched this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3J7aqe8hI8 Recognized a few words in the listening part, understood 70% of the text in the reading part. (As always, reading is easier than listening). I think I've figured out how to form the past tense -adding 'de' with a few exceptions-, however I'm not going to 'learn' it now because I need to focus on my pronunciation and hearing the right sound.
Watched these videos : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNoeNt2haOU / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inB5rXny92g / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYPWSGUma9I with Language Reactor activated. I tried to understand the different sound (å,ä,ö). And words similar to English or German.
Day 2
Continued yesterday's playlist (videos 13,14,16,17). I'm tired, there are a lot of rules to learn. I already recognize some of them thanks to the videos I watched last night. But I'll have to find videos for shadowing because I have a lot of trouble distinguishing long sounds from short sounds, because sometimes the sound doesn't match (from the videos I watched, exemple: the 'ä' or 'e'! ).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrhqMBGTLYU ← I was able to understand some words (without looking at the subtitles, only the audio) and get the meaning of some sentences that were a little more difficult.
Learned vocabulary : family members, professions, personality, emotions. And gender of the words too. Listened to the radio P1 (https://www.radio-sveriges.se/p1). Wrote my own text. Read online text with the audio.
Watched : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbUhzghJQcI / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2iCFkAAo2g / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f4ks-J9VVw / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad4VoRnWeMs with Language Reactor.
Day 3
Reading each word alout while listening to the sound to perfect my pronunciation. Seems to work great! [Jag är gladd] Was able to make questions and answering them with different subject (ex: He is / we are ...).
Yesterday I realized something about adjectives so I studied them. There is one thing I don't understand about the noun [the beach = (en) strand but also stranden / the house = ett hus but then huset ? why is it after the noun?].
Studied the correct way to say 'I like', 'I don't like' (so I also learned 'inte' for negatives sentences). No particular website, took stuff from reddit svenska, reddit duolingo and others websites to make the 'course of the day'. [I'm not feeling great -Was outisde in the rain- so I'm not going to do much more.] Right now I'm at 2h12 of studying.
Night : Watched this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zqh1FLS2vU Understood some words! Wrote sentences to practice adjectives. Then made a little speech about myself and one family member.
Day 4
Studied : adjectives, articles, opinions, questions. Discovered this website : https://ensv.dict.cc/?s=spanish which I used in my last written exercices. Little by little I'm getting used to the pronunciation. I remember around 70-80% of the vocabulary, however it's very low for jobs since I don't make sentences with these words. Grammar rules aren't that difficult (although I still make mistakes). Still some weird things with ett-ord and en-ord that I need to chec. Listened to P1 (radio) for the entire morning and then P6 after lunch.
I do a lot every day to motivate myself, because if I don't, my brain will think I'm not making progress and then I'll feel depressed. I already have a gap between my written and my spoken expression (like always but it's... meh!). I have to practice speaking more!
Listened to : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMgYORiFtpY and at the same times I was working on vocabulary.
Day 5
Learned to tell the time (with Babbel website) then the daily verbs - First part -, with the months. I studied an easy text with the audio. Wrote my first short text (I mean a text with a story). Watched videos on youtube, listened to the radio. Not very long study day (it's sunday, that's why!)
Day 6
Learned : new common verbs, prepositions. Tried to create "easy" dialogue with new verbs and nouns (was a disaster, shame on me). Will have to learn frequency vocabulary.
Watched : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgwRqD3TJpc / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNNsy1_J_XU
Day 7
Shortest day ever! I decided to record the week 1 video but then I had to edit it... and that's where the problems started. In the end, I only have 20 minutes of listening time for today (the morning news on SVT) Bouuuh!!!

Week 2

More and more listening

Day 8
Watched :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5j4MZFRgN8 / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3cV2q0byZI / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp3vgtT04dc / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSR6sYOs7MA / https://www.youtube.com/shorts/s2HLh3s5774 / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZeg2b2Bu1k / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJO2txOXHY8
Learned : past tense, found this website ( https://www.apprendrelesuedois.com/textes-en-suedois/ https://www.apprendrelesuedois.com/la-methode/ ) Like the texts, will definitly come back to it!
Did some level test for the fun but it just prove me ONE thing. None of them are correct. The tests said I'm A2.
Day 9
Because Past tense is not something that I like, I decided to continue to study it today. Only past tense. Trying to write every possible sentences in the past. Watched : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkOCq3vQ4lU / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IC-JeHpdQHk
Day 10
If you watched/are watching my videos you can see that I haven't spent many hours per day learning Swedish since day 8. It's because I changed the way I calculate it. Before it was: 3 hours. Okay, I studied grammar, then did exercises and then listened to the radio so... 2 hours grammar; exercises 30 min and radio 30 min.
But now I calculate like this:
Okay, Finding a good website to learn this was difficult, so instead of 2 hours I dit 1 hour and 30... no wait, I also wrote the lesson so it took me a few minutes too, so maybe 1 hour and 20. For the exercises I did it in 30 minutes, but that was because I read the sentences several times, tried to remember the vocabulary so it was actually only 10 minutes and finally the radio, I wasn't concentrated for 30 minutes so let's say... 15 min? 20 minutes? Okay, 18 min! (Total: 1 hr 48 instead of 3 hours)
That's why it seems shorter, even though I'm doing the same thing, because I'm counting differently.
Learned : talk about the weather. Wrote a very long dialogue with past tense, weather, opinion, questions. Not perfect but I'm proud of myself. I didn't know I would be able to do it this early. Can't wait to be tomorrow to learn about clothes and colours!
Day 11
Watched : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGr_yCfsl4U ; Learned : Colours, clothes. Wanted to talk about body parts so learned it too. Discovered this website : https://swedishkit.com/vocabulary/body-parts/learn-body-parts/ Amazing. Many exercices (audio). I like it because I can hear can repeat the sound.
Day 12
Wrote 3 different texts to test my vocabulary. Almost the same stuff (clothes, shopping) but with different noun, adjectives... I also realised that I never studied plural. Weird because I thought I did it. That's all I did that day. (it's sunday, that's why!)
Day 13
I feel like I can't say a lot in Swedish and it stressed me a lot. That's why I decided to take this day (since tomorrow will be the last day of the week 2), to wrote the most complete text I can. I used words from all the themes I studied until now and make a text much more bigger than I thought I will be able to. I was so proud but at the same times, I had to look on the dictionnary words that I didn't remember/know.So it's not 100% only me. It's 80% me and 20% the dictionnary. I also watched videos. I don't remember which one. I didn't copy-paste them but I remember that most of them was about a "Von Essen" man in tv shows. He was listing numbers, answering questions etc... And it trained my ear for numbers.
Day 14
Hello! This is my break day (It was planned, don't worry). I'm not going to study a single grammar point or vocabulary. Yeah. Sometimes a break is all we need. I know that some people say that we have to study every day but... not today mouhahaha. Plus, I have to make the video for week 2. (don't want to. not the energy today)
Ok so I recorded myself but I think I will have to cut a lot because the video (only for day 14) is 8 minutes long, which is too long. So I think I'll not publish it today, need to cut a lot of stuff. See you tomorrow.

Week 3

Pronunciation & Speaking

Day 15 & 16
Because I don't want to forget what I study and because I have to put a lot of effort on my pronunciation, I decided to study the futur during two days... At least to practice speaking. I also learned more words (hobbies).
Day 17 & 18
17 =Watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyWhrniiyCs / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbZJT-zMO5s / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4TI_J_aLPE (x5 to understand completely the dialogue) / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6bheP2MvB0
Studied: Places/Localisation/Directions. It's not that complicate but since yesterday was successful (I did only speaking, making sentences only with the vocabulary of day 17), I want to try again with this topic.
Watched also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsRi2WPTou4
18= wanted to test my comprehension : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQuJiBZ1I5A (it's okay, I understand however I don't have every words.) / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19qroYsb3tI.
Exercice : Speaking exercice (translation). Had to look for some words before. Turns out, it wasn't that bad. Missing some preposition 'in' 'till'. But I can see I made progress. *HAPPY TIME* (links -image- : https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ee/d0/ea/eed0ea02ff806d005ba7cd7477bf4f7c.jpg / -answers- : https://kejarcita.id/bank/questions/139677) others : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrzQU_-uxXc ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyfzf2c6Jso ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsaeWdkyvL0 ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_J3h-8FWYc

Week 4

Last week to end the 1st month

Day 22 & 23
22 = I liked the two days on the same subject because I feel like I remember words better that way. / Studied : past experiences /
23 = Watched : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQIHouBiTxw (I used this video to do, writing the audio, listen and repeat, and speaking... took me more than an hour to do everything but now I can understand better and I also learned new words) / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k8lmgVKoUE (Listening only + trying to understand the meaning) / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmq7ddD02MM (love her voice. Easy to understand) / https://lingua.com/swedish/reading/ (can understand the A1 but still some words... need to learn them!!!) + Continue watching the playlist from Day 21.

Studied : reservation (hotel, check in/out, questions)
Day 27
I finished my A1 level list, however I'm not a "full" A1 because I have to continue learning words and practice speaking. Today, I decided to make an exam. I speak and write about everything I learned until this day. Watched : Pippi Lågstrump / Asterix och Kleopatra (1968) / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI0wmU4uCAA (mostly past listening)
Day 28
Day OFF but still : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thvtTT0Bv9w (Off because I have to make the video and since it's the 4th week and AND 1 month update I want to do something cool)

Week 5

Speaking, speaking & speaking

Day 29 & 30
29 = I struggle a lot with past tense. I don't know how to use them (don't worry, I have the same problem with English and Spanish... and also French. I don't understand how to use it. Even at school. I never liked making text in past tense in French because I don't get it! So it's the same for the others languages (except Korean. This is "simple", I like it).
I studied: past tense (+ working on verbs).
30 = image description (3 images). after that, because I was not able to move I wrote a text. First I wanted to make a cool text but... since I was without dictionnary, my book, my computer... even my glasses(!) it wasn't easy to find word to express what I wanted. So this text became a thriller/mystery text. Weird. I know. I'm suprised to see that I'm more capable to do a mystery text in swedish than a funny one. Need to add more cute vocabulary on my list.
Day 31 & 32
31 = The past... My text wasn't that great. I have to continue working on it. So! I studied : past tense + talking about my past (=things that happened to my life like : moving out, work, school, music). Also, I don't remember the exact date (D29 or 30) but I listened to A1 audio from this website : https://www.apprendrelesuedois.com/textes-en-suedois/
As I mentioned in the 1 month update video, I speaking every night around 7-8 minutes. Today I tried to use new verbs in the past tense (Was horrible, but I tried! 7 minutes).
Day 33 & 34
33 = New grammar point (it's been a while) Comparatif/Superlatif. I used it on my new text today. I also make an auto-evaluation (like : what I can do/can't do. What I need to do next). I also made a list of sentences from the A1 level (I live in... / I like to... / I would like to... / How much is...) to read again and again. I talked about my "past" to continue working on past tenses (I need to master that). And I also listened to some videos online. However, I know I need to watch/listen to content for beginner but I don't know where to find the video that I watch but with "easy Swedish" (what I need is people playing video games while speaking slow and with simple sentences - Not sentences that go on and on and never end!). Speaking time : 10min54s. (don't remember the exact time for day 32).
34 = Watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0zOXuojNAU
*health issue* wrote a text / spoke 10 minutes
Day 35
Already the last day of week 5. Watched : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iy9YwrZrEs
*health issue* made the video / wrote a text / review some grammar

Week 6

Trying to deal with my health

Day 36
*health issue* spoke for 17 minutes. (11 + 6) review vocabulary + a video about cooking (30 minutes)
Day 37
I feel better. Still have some pain but it's less and less. I'm not happy about my "swedish studies". Because of my health I studied less and I can see that I'm not remembering everything well, so I'm scared to go on (is 'scared' the best word to describe it? I don't know).
Day 38
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-_KyaJi7-g Able to understand. Listening-Reading-Repeat.
I tried an old exercise of mine (something similar with my Japanese studies I did years ago. It worked so maybe I can give it a try with Swedish? -Plus, Swedish is much more easy than Japanese, so I'm pretty sure it will work... kanske www)
Lecture passive : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jChffzdBQKU (juste pour me refamiliariser avec l'intonation/accent/rythme - And yes I wrote it in French because I'm too tired to think in ENGLISH!)
Day 39
Studied : reading a text out loud + another one. Grammar : adverbs and other stuff. Watched the same video from the first week to see my evolution (was able to understand more words and same reallly eassyy sentences.)
Day 40
Not much because I wasn't alone = can't study. I made two texts (opinion about 2 movies I saw) and reviewed my little vocab list.
Day 41
opinion is important. Explaining why is important. So I decided that today I'll continue on this topic with clothes! I tried to explain why X was better than Y; that O is the most beautiful one; that Z looks good on... *you*. Stuff like that. And I did pretty good. When writing my text I was : "Oh, I have to add en", "the word is always plural, don't forget the 'a'!" and other stuff like that. It was not my best written exercice but I was happy to see that I'm becoming better with the grammar. Tomorrow I'll record myself so I don't know what I'll study. I want to try making a huge text with everything I learned but that seems impossible to include every words (!) (https://yle.fi/a/7-10085665 / https://www.sverigesradio.se/radioswedenpalattsvenska / Lättlästa böcker)
Day 42
I made a game with my vocabulary list. I was telling a "story" and everytime I had to add the following word in my next sentence. It was weird but funny. I ended with a dog sleeping on the road and me trying to walk without waking it up because I like cats more than dogs. It took me 38 minutes to use every word, find good sentences and to use also the last grammar point I studied this week. I was happy because when I have the camera in front of me (for the weekly review) I feel like I can't say a word in Swedish. But after this 38-minutes session I know that I can. It's far from perfect, it's really bad, I know. When I have to talk seriously (I mean talking about myself, why I'm learning languages etc...), I can't but on the other hand, when it's to make silly sentences, I can. Am I weird?

Week 7

Special Job week

Day 43
Anställningintervju och mejl. Only reading, working on vocabulary, no production at all. I was working on something else (and also spend my day eating because I have to. -this is one of my other problem, I only talk about it on twitter-
Day 44
Watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv4wt4BvZVI (I understood him!! It's PARTY TIME! whooop whooop!) Written 3 texts. (I don't remember because I forgot to write it)
Day 45-46
Studied : accident and hospital. Many sentences. Same sentences with different words to remember most of them.
46 = Nothing. bad me. listened to videos and review vocabulary. nothing new
Day 47-48
Finished my speaking from day 45-46. I feel insecure about my listening so I listened to : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_lj8frRNU0 Then I began my "new" subject : Job. It is the special subject of the week but this time it's about talking with collegue and make appointment, meeting, agreement. Worked on sentences; making plans for the job week (ex: on monday I have a meeting, on tuesday...). Not writting only speaking.
I don't know if it's because I started listening to Spanish again but I don't feel like working on Swedish now.
48 = Watched :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmn4A-15qXU / Continued yesterday's lesson. Learn more sentences and did new exercices (this time only writting, no speaking). I also reviewed vocabulary from day 1.
Day 49
Watched : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cup3csW-05U / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0yqol9ybW0 / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k88mkJSF7k / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B6NSTHlHVU / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDY9kJIZ5UA / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjvmlT17Kuw

Week 8

Sick

Day 50
I writing this two days later so I don't remember. SORRY!
Day 51-52
SICK
Day 53-54
53 = I'M LATE! Studying : the thing I wanted to do on day 51 and also 52. 51 is the following of day 50. And day 52 is a new study subject: explaining rules.
54 = oh no. guess what. I was going so well yesterday but when I woke up this morning. Sick again. I have my notebook open but I don't want to study. I want to be on my bed 😭
Day 55-56
Review days. I also did a test.

Week 9

Trying to memorise everything

Day 57
57 = Hope and dream. I also did a lot of exercices. Review vocabulary. Too many that I don't remember.

I forget to write a comment about my day because I don't study in one session. Before, I worked everything in one go except that now I spread my learning over the whole day so I don't think to come and give a review here anymore. This is actually day 61. I realised yesterday that I hade to make my review of the day but... forgot again. This is bad because I really want to write down everything I'm doing to review later what is good and bad. I'll do my best to do it tonight. Hope I can.
